Hi, my name is Tracie. I live in Phoenix, Arizona, but my story starts in Effort, Pennsylvania. I have lived in many places, including Long Island, but graduated high school in PA. After graduation I decided, to my parent's disappointment, that I didn't want to go to college. I moved to NY and lived with a friend. I worked doing clerical and office work for about a year and a half. I finally realized that it wasn't for me. I moved back home to PA and started school. Four years later I graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a dual major in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I
substituted for two years in several districts in my area with little
prospects for a job. A cousin of mine, who lived close by,
suggested that we should move to an area with a better economical
situation. So, we decided Phoenix was the place for us.
Another cousin decided to join us and we packed our bags. It was
around this time when I met Cyril. We
were married in May 1999. Soon
after I started applying to different schools for teaching positions.
I was hired as a 2nd grade teacher at a Acclaim Charter School. I
taught second grade for three years. This year I was offered the
position of Technology Coordinator/ Librarian. I accepted, eager
to try something new. It is working well and I do enjoy it.
Now I see all the students in the school K-8. I enjoy the older
students much more than I would have anticipated. I do want to go
back to a classroom eventually, but I'm not certain what grade suits me
now. |
